Diary Update:
As a transgender woman, every step towards womanhood is a milestone worth celebrating. And for me, one of those milestones was purchasing my first pair of heels.
I found the store in one of the Beaumont Society magazines that my mom had brought me. It was one of the items on a document I call “Kaydee’s Road to Womanhood,” a silly checklist that I had created, but one that represents my goals and milestones that I hope to achieve.
After browsing through the store, I found a pair of heels that I absolutely loved. Unfortunately, I didn’t read the article in the magazine fully, and I ended up buying a size that was way too small for my feet. But, with determination, I went through the process of returning the heels and ordered the correct size after measuring my feet in every which way. Finally, I received a pair that fit me perfectly.
Purchasing the heels was a great milestone for me, and I felt a sense of accomplishment that cannot be put into words. However, the daunting task of learning how to walk in three-inch heels and wearing them correctly was another goal on my checklist. As of now, I still don’t know how to walk in them, and I have purchased three more pairs from the same store.
For me, wearing heels is not just about fashion, but it’s also about embracing my femininity and feeling confident in my own skin. Every step I take in these heels represents a step towards embracing my identity and feeling comfortable
and confident in it.
