Diary Update:
Today, I’m excited to share with you a newfound passion that has brought a whole new dimension to my life: drones. As someone deeply immersed in technology and engineering, drones have always intrigued me, but it wasn’t until recently that I took the plunge into the world of unmanned aerial vehicles.
My journey with drones began during my time working with high-end drones for the Ministry of Defence (MOD). The exposure to demonstrations, test flights, and the endless possibilities ignited a spark within me to explore this fascinating technology further. However, when it came time to choose a drone for myself, I found myself overwhelmed by the myriad of options available on the market.
On a whim, I reached out to the instructors from the demonstration day, seeking guidance on selecting a drone within my budget. To my surprise, I received a prompt response with a recommendation for the Parrot Anafi Extended Pack, complete with a bag and FPV goggles. With the recommendation in hand, I made the purchase and eagerly awaited the arrival of my new drone.

But my journey didn’t stop there. Understanding the importance of adhering to regulations and safety protocols, I delved into research on drone laws and licensing. Armed with knowledge and determination, I applied for a drone license through the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and successfully passed the exam with flying colors, thanks to thorough preparation.
Owning a drone has opened up a world of possibilities for me. It’s not just a tool for aerial photography or videography; it’s a gateway to exploration and adventure. With my drone, I can soar to new heights and uncover hidden gems in the world around me. Whether it’s capturing breathtaking landscapes or discovering remote locations, the drone has given me the freedom to expand my horizons like never before.
What’s more, the drone serves as a means of escape for me—a socially awkward shut-in who often finds solace within the confines of my room. With the drone, I can break free from the constraints of my comfort zone and experience the world on my own terms. As a transgender individual, who has spent much time navigating the complexities of identity and acceptance, the drone offers a sense of liberation and anonymity, allowing me to connect with the world around me without fear or judgment.
As my confidence grew and my passion for drones deepened, I found myself venturing further into the world of unmanned aerial vehicles. I began acquiring a variety of drones, each with its own unique capabilities and applications. Additionally, I upgraded my drone license to operate larger drones, further expanding my horizons and pushing the boundaries of exploration.
However, it’s important to note that learning to fly drones takes time and patience. It’s not uncommon to experience crashes along the way, some of which can be costly. From unexpected obstacles like a swarm of bees to technical malfunctions, there are many factors that can lead to an unplanned descent. That’s why it’s crucial to always be aware of your surroundings and prioritize safety above all else.
Here are some some pictures of my flights and equipment:
